Legal Counsel - Privacy

Key Requirements:
  • At least seven years of experience in privacy law (experience in a top-tier law firm and in-house legal department preferred) and in good standing with a state Bar
  • CIPP/E and CIPP/US – Advantage
  • Must have expertise in data protection laws and practices including an in-depth understanding of the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, and their technological applications in the Hi-Tech and cyber security industries
  • Must have strong project management skills and be able to handle multiple projects at a time
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and be able to research legal issues effectively
  • Ability to appreciate the business side of an operation, as well as the legal and balance appropriately.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Fluent in English
Responsibilities:
  • Handle regulatory compliance with regard to data privacy matters
  • Provide specialized advice on legal and regulatory privacy and data compliance requirements
  • Review technological and commercial materials and create practices in the company to ensure that they are in compliance with data privacy legal requirements
  • Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and executing DPAs and data privacy provisions on behalf of Varonis
  • Proactively conduct audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues
  • Devise training plans and provide data protection advice and support to employees at the company
  • Assisting the Legal Department on special projects, as needed
